About Us
Ngaia exists to do something positive with what already is.
In a world shaped by excess where materials are discarded and clothing is made to be replaced, not cherished, we choose a different approach.
We believe children’s clothing can be made with care, intention, and restraint, without compromising on comfort, quality, or design.
Why Ngaia Began
The fashion industry produces far more than it needs. Large volumes of high-quality fabric are left unused, while clothing is often designed for speed rather than longevity. Ngaia was created in response to this imbalance and to slow the cycle, reduce waste, and offer families a more considered approach to fashion. By working with what already exists and making less overall, we aim to lessen impact while creating clothing that feels thoughtful, purposeful, and personal.
What we do differently
We work with carefully selected, high-quality remnant fabrics that would otherwise go unused. Each is chosen for its quality, colour, feel, and suitability for children.
Most of our collections are made in limited quantities and come to life in two distinct ways:
Everyday Collection
Our Everyday Collection is developed in partnership with our Cambodian production partner, Dorsu, allowing us to create accessible, comfortable staples while supporting ethical, locally run manufacturing practices.
Limited Collection
Our Limited Collection is created from unique, beautiful remnant materials. Produced in small batches in a local, owner-run workshop in Bali, each piece is thoughtfully designed to celebrate individuality over volume.
Designed for real childhood
Every Ngaia piece is designed for movement,
comfort, and everyday wear.
We prioritise soft, natural fibres, relaxed fits, and thoughtful details to create clothing that supports play, exploration, and self-expression, while standing up to repeated wear.
Our hope is that each piece is worn often,
loved, and passed on when it no longer fits.
Our Name
The name Ngaia is inspired by Gaia, the
Greek goddess of the Earth, reflecting care for the natural world.
The added “N” forms an anagram of again, representing our commitment to working with what already exists.
Our swan emblem symbolises lightness, care, and quiet confidence — values that guide how Ngaia is made.
