Our Process
Fabric Sourcing
We work with high-quality remnant fabrics — unused textiles from existing garment production.
Each fabric is carefully selected for durability, softness, colour, and suitability for children’s clothing. Because these materials are finite, quantities are naturally limited and cannot be replicated once used.
Design & development
Design begins with the fabric. Working closely with our production partners allows us to be responsive and intentional in our design process. Silhouettes are shaped around the materials available, prioritising comfort, ease of movement and longevity. Fit and construction are reviewed to ensure durability and comfort.
Limited production
All Ngaia pieces are produced in small runs.
Production quantities are determined by fabric availability rather than seasonal volume targets or trend forecasts. This
approach helps reduce excess stock and unnecessary waste.
Our partners
We work with ethical production partners who share our values around quality, fairness and care. Small-scale manufacturing allows for closer oversight, responsible working conditions and consistent craftsmanship.
We are proud to partner with Dorsu on our Everyday Collection. Through Dorsu, we are able to source high-quality remnant fabrics from the Cambodian garment industry that would otherwise go unused.
Packaging
We keep packaging minimal and considered. Orders are packed using recyclable or compostable materials wherever possible, avoiding unnecessary plastics and excess layers. Packaging is designed to protect garments in transit without adding avoidable waste. We review our choices regularly as better alternatives become available.
Thank you
Ngaia continues because families choose to buy differently.
Your decision to buy thoughtfully helps reduce waste, avoid overproduction, and support responsible manufacturing.
We are grateful to grow slowly, with intention, alongside you.
